Ruby Neri’s Untitled (2008) is a bronze sculpture of a horse and rider. The work is no typical equestrian depiction, however: the plinth it stands on is rendered in wood rather than marble, and the representation is not naturalistic. Both human and horse seem to be constructed of Cubist segments and are loosely painted in yellow, purple and red. Other recent sculptures include ceramic heads with colourful, roughly glazed, mask-like faces, which hint at a broad sphere of influence, ranging from Classical Greek sculpture, anatomical studies and ethnographic artifacts to the works of Pablo Picasso and Constantin Brancusi.
